Built for trainers
who want live lessons
that learners respond to.

Lumina started from a simple frustration: beautiful presentations that learners ignored. We built the platform we wished existed — a live teaching workspace where content, quizzes, and engagement all live together.

The story behind Lumina

We're educators and engineers who got tired of watching learners stare at beautiful slides without any real interaction. Tools like PowerPoint and Google Slides are presentation tools, but live teaching needs more than presentation alone.

Lumina was built to bridge that gap: give trainers the presentation quality they're used to, with the live-teaching features they were missing. Interactive checks for understanding, AI slide generation, lesson attachments, and a learner-first join flow that works on any device with minimal friction.

We're a small team with a big belief: engaged learners learn more. Everything we build starts from that principle.

FAQ

Common questions

Can't find what you need? Get in touch →

Do students need to create an account? expand_more
No. Students just enter the 6-character session code (or scan the QR) and type their name. No account, no app download, no friction. Works on any browser.
What does the 50-student monthly limit actually mean? expand_more
On the free plan, we count unique student names across all your sessions in a calendar month. So 50 different students can join your sessions that month. If the same student joins 3 sessions, they count as one. The per-session cap of 10 is separate — you can never have more than 10 in a single session on free.
What files does AI slide generation support? expand_more
Pro plan AI generation works with PDF, DOCX, and PPTX files up to 50 MB. It extracts the text, sends it to GPT-4, and returns a structured slide JSON with titles, bullet points, speaker notes, and suggested discussion questions.
Can I invite another teacher to co-present? expand_more
Inviting co-presenters is a Pro feature. On the free plan you present alone. On Pro you can share session control with colleagues — useful for team-teaching or departmental demos.
Is my content stored securely? expand_more
Yes. Files are stored server-side with MIME-type validation and access controls. Passwords are hashed with BCrypt. Sessions are auth-token gated for presenters. Student names are stored ephemerally per session and can be purged on demand.
Can I use Luminary Academy on a tablet or phone? expand_more
Yes — both the presenter and student experiences are fully responsive. Teachers typically present from a laptop while students follow along on phones, tablets, or shared classroom devices.
What happens to student data after a session ends? expand_more
Session participant records (names and responses) are linked to your session and can be deleted at any time from your dashboard. We do not share student data with third parties. No email addresses or personal IDs are ever collected from students.
